Mobility: Whose Responsibility Is It? Mobility: Whose Responsibility Is It? Beyond City Sidewalks

Independent Travel

This section highlights the experiences of blind adults who travel independently for all sorts of endeavors through all sorts of terrain. It contains information on choosing a cane and the Discovery Method of travel, and an extensive discussion of traveling in rural areas. Throughout, you'll perceive the independence philosophy of blind people who take responsibility for their own mobility and use a creative, problem-solving approach to getting where they want to go.
